I have only read a little of this book and scanned thru the recipes. All that I have read makes such good sense in changing up the eating habits. All in all, when life unclutters a bit more, I will put this in motion.
I am a fan of the Bulletproof lifestyle- BP coffee daily and BP intermittent fasting 5x a week. Still, this book is MEH. I would say this book is more of an attempt to have a new book out there than it is to offer new information. I would call this more of an "assembly book" than a "cookbook." Asparagus and Soft Boiled Eggs is an assembly, not a "recipe", and definitely something I don't need a cookbook to come up with. Salmon with capers and lemon juice? Wow. Groundbreaking... Compound butter with herbs isn't a recipe I paid money to discover. Save your money or buy his other book, "The Bulletproof Diet" for a better bang for your buck.The chapters are titled as such:MainsSides/SaladsSoups/BrothLattes/SmoothieDessertsSalt/Butter/CondimentsHe repeats a lot of information from his podcasts and previous book. He basically takes the ingredients he has been talking about forever and tries to pass them off as "new recipes". He promotes a lot of his branded products, which doesn't bother me, but it might some people. I was slightly disappointed with the book overall. You would be better off looking for recipes on the internet and making them BP with your own modifications, per your palate. This book isn't going to help that much.
1. I'm no newbie to the world of low carb/paleo/primal, etc. When I've worked on losing weight in the past, it has been a struggle and the older I get the less quickly my body responds to low carb and dieting in general. I was not expecting anything more when reading about and embarking on Bulletproof, but I've been blown away! Not only did I start losing weight right away, I did not crave sugar or really anything, and I'm feeling much better than I have for a while.2. I used to work in catering/personal chef and taught cooking, so I have bought A LOT of cookbooks. The balance that I think is important in writing recipes for people who are changing their eating habits a) make them uncomplicated (so that you're not constantly thinking about food!), b) fairly easy to source ingredients (ever read diet recipes and go "what the hell is that and where am I supposed to buy it?!) and c) flavorful enough that you don't feel like a martyr.3. If you're thinking of doing this, don't just "dabble" and then complain if it doesn't work for you. Read The Bulletproof Diet, there are explanations and valid research backing up the ideas, and follow it for a while.
Don't try this diet if you have had your gallbladder removed
This is a beautiful and unique cookbook. I'm all about Paleo, Pegan, Bulletproof and whatever else way of eating that does not include wheat. The cookbook contains beautiful photos and the recipes are simple.
Excellent cookbook. I wish it had a shopping list; that would make like so much easier. I have made many of the recipes in the book, they have all been delicious so far. A nice variety of recipes; well worth the cost.
The Kindle book was impossible to use...no index of recipes... great recipes but very poorly done.
I never knew what to eat (Bulletproof wise) before this nook. Now, I am never want for any lack of variety in this diet, as I miss out on nothing!
I like Dave Asprey's other books even more. I have found with authors of keto recipe cookbooks, the individual people tend to use the same ingredients and way of cooking. I tend to not use the ingredients that Dave primarily uses, but you may. I encourage you to read this one... and also Maria Emmerich's cookbooks that add a lot to the voids this one left me with. I enjoy Dave Asprey's other book, Head Strong, even more.
