Review

Praise for The Grimm Conclusion:* “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, and Gidwitz deploys his successful formula of bloody happenings and narratorial intrusion in his third and final installment of unexpurgated fairy tales. … Underneath the gore, the wit, and the trips to Hell and back, this book makes it clearer than ever that Gidwitz truly cares about the kids he writes for.” —Publishers Weekly starred review “Entertaining story-mongering, with traditional and original tropes artfully intertwined.”—Kirkus Reviews“The conclusion to the trilogy that began with A Tale Dark and Grimm (2010) and continued with In a Glass Grimmly (2012, both Dutton) is equally gorey and awesomely dark. ... As innovative as they are traditional, the stories maintain clear connections with traditional Grimm tales while creatively connecting to the narrative, and all the while keeping the proceedings undeniably grisly and lurid. … Readers will rejoice.”— School Library Journal“Adam Gidwitz continues his eerily funny Grimm fairytale takeoffs with fresh takes on Cinderella, Rumpelstiltskin, and the Juniper Tree. Perfect for snuggle up reads.”—Barnes & Noble"Entertaining story-mongering, with traditional and original tropes artfully intertwined." — Kirkus Reviews

Huge fan of Gidwitz's reconstructed Grimm tales! I have four boys from ages 7 to 17 and they love it when I read these. The latest novel is a bit more graphic than the first two, but otherwise just as expected. I feel his writing style has evolved a bit with more seemingly careless, yet perfectly fluid interjections. This is the best series of books I've ever had the pleasure of narrating. Perfectly balanced between voice and story, it's a genuine pleasure to read an exciting chapter every night as the story unfolds in ways you wouldn't expect.

This book, just wow. I... I... I don't know what to say. Words cannot describe this magnificent book. If there was an infinity sign for stars on this book, I would rate it Infinity. Loved it. I am eleven years old, just turned like last week, and I recommend this book for children 9or 10 preferring on how mature they are to read all these books. I loved it and will always. Now this series of books has become my all time number ones. Please buy, totally worth it, and read, also totally worth it. Thank you Adam for writing these books!!!!

Third in a series - you cannot go wrong with reading this wonderful series to your children aged 7 and older. While there are some frightening descriptions and lots of bloody scenes, the Narrator's interjections keep the scary bits light and entertaining. The sentence structure and vocabulary are straight from Grammar/Vocab Heaven; we found it wonderful to explain what a word meant and then try to use it in regular conversations. This was not an easy job with words such as craggy and perspicacity!

Absolutely LOVE these stories, and so does my 10 year old daughter and all her friends. I will say that these books are not for all children. My kids run away screaming from anything "princess" the other children might run away from mothers eating their children in a stew (yes, that's in the book!)I remember reading the original Grimm's Fairy tales when I was a girl. In comparing the watered down Disney versions to the original tales, the newer versions tend to lose many of the original lessons that are depicted in the original Grimm. This book brings them back them back in a humorous and engaging way. The whole series is a must read. But I caution parents to read them first! If your child is prone to nightmares, this may not be for them!

The third and final book in the Grimm series by Adam Gidwitz, the siblings Jordina and Jorindel leave home to escape their cruel stepfather, and find a world of weird, wild, and simply "Awesome" world in which fairy tales bloom. When the twins discover that they can create fairy tales by speaking them, their adventure gets even more wild, spooky, and courageous! This is a very good book, full of humor, fun, and, of course, fairy tales.

Wonderfully, Delightfully written, my 11 and 12 year old can't put the series down. they ever read the books out loud together, and talk about laughing! they seem to laugh almost as much as they read with this series. I had to see what was so funny, and I agree the books are funny. The author is engaging, the type of writer I would love to receive letters from.

Not a book I would reaf, but it was bought for my 11 year old granddaughter. She has all his books now.

This was a nice little come around to the trio of Grimm story's, but to be honest just lacked the surprise, adventure, and all around Gore the first two took great pride in. It disappointed me to a great extent. I did how ever LOVE how Gidwits incorporated past characters and places into the -not so fair- fairy tale, and expectually what with the, all of them being related and what not. The story line it's self is actually very interesting and had it been a different book, or different origin of the series, I would have given it a 5, but seeing as how the story line, lacked some of the suspense and suprise, its sisters had... I just was at a let down.
