I searched the internet for a series of books suitable for my 9 year old grandson to read over the school break. He has always struggles with reading. I had the Magic Tree House Boxed set 1-28 sent from USA to Australia. I purchased these books with the expectation my grandson and I would read them together. I wanted to encourage him to read and for him to feel proud of himself. Not only did this series accomplish that but for the first time he willingly read these books and more importantly comprehended the story line. He loved these books, especially books 21-24. My only regret is that I didn't find the series earlier. Look forward to purchasing the next series.

By request, for my 7 yr old nephew. They were a boxed set, pkg'd up, so I couldn't take a peek. I've read samples from several, though, and they seem quite lovely. Very happy to have him reading, as well.I meant to update this a lot sooner, and I'm sorry I didn't. Since I gave them to him two Christmases ago, as I had hoped, he got his twin sister interested. The main characters being brother and sister are a major draw for them, for obvious reasons ;)A good majority of the times they visited, at least one of them had one of the books with them, and as I visited I was often called on to be read to from them. They've enjoyed sharing them and the practice it gives them reading aloud is just wonderful! I consider this a huge success. They're 9 now and we still re-read them fairly often. Very appropriate books for young ones.

I read these to my four year old and she loves them. These are the first chapter books we have tackled together. Amazingly she sits through an entire reading when we have time to read a full book in one sitting. They are fun and really work the element of adventure for little ones. I suggest box sets which are cheaper than single books.

This set was purchased for 3rd grade students. They do seem to enjoy them; but anticipate new 3rd graders in the fall will appreciate them even more. Most of the kids in our room are reading at 4th or 5th grade level this far into the school year.

I purchased this set for my daughter who is 6 years of age and my son who is 8 years old. It was an easter gift and came just in time. I made sure to compare prices from scholastic and amazon. At the time amazon had them for a better price. I love the stories and so do my children. They already want to skip ahead to the books about the titanic and thanksgiving. We are reading them together each night and they are asking really good questions that prompt us to search for the answers. This set came in a box which made for easy wrapping but I would have still purchased without it. I would recommend this set to all beginner readers. My son struggles with reading comprehension but after a quick review of what we read the night before he is able to pick up where we left off. I am looking forward to purchasing the next set in the series.

Good books, but they were thinner than I expected and they went half off right after I bought them... should have left them in my wishlist and looked for discounts... oh well. Good books that my children enjoy. Overpriced for the size in my opinion, unless you find them discounted or used.

Our five year old received these as a gift for Christmas, and couldn't stop asking us to read more to him! We've zipped through these books and are looking forward to the rest of the series. Great box to keep the set in.

Wow!!! This has been a gigantic hit for my 7 year old! She literally carries the box around the house, brings it in the car everywhere we go, and is reading nonstop (and she isn't one to just pick up a book and read). In first grade, she and her friends were introduced to these books and love them. The level is perfect for 6 and 7 year olds who are reading. My son, who just turned 9, likes more advanced chapter books now but probably would have liked them in his early 8's too. Because she is so into them, he is becoming more interested in them too.
